Rutherford Gardens is a residential landscape company serving the local community within Washtenaw county and her neighboring townships and cities. Whether you are looking for simple maintenance in your garden, a stone wall, or you are looking for a new patio with surrounding plantings we are equipped to meet your needs. About the owner, David Rutherford: I began my career in landscape design and gardening at the turn of the century working with, Paul Melton, for his company Zen Gardens. Paul Melton was one of the most talented and skilled landscape artists to have blessed southeast Michigan with his hard work. Paul had learned the art of bonsai, from Japanese soldiers, while he was serving in the army, just after the close of WWII. He would go on to implement his knowledge of Japanese gardening and design into the landscape industry with a surprising amount of talent. I went on from there to work for many skilled, experienced, and award-winning landscape contractors. I am a Certified Green Industry Professional through the MNLA's continuing education program. I love gardening. I love many different styles of design and have a wealth of experience. When you think of your home, what does your heart speak to you when you look outside your window?
